I have been wanting to celebrate Fourth of July in St. Louis for the long time. I don’t know why specifically St. Louis when there are so many other places – New York, LA - places milling with people. and excitement. But last night was one of those days ... muggy, blazing hot, clear night skies, when thousands of St. Louisans piled onto the lawn in front of the arch to watch the tapestry overhead light on FIRE. One year my family and I drove through St. Louis on July 3rd but we didn't stay long enough to see the fireworks. Now that I live here and attend college in good ole STL, I had to go join the fun and games and survive being squeezed to a red, white, and blue pulp on the Metro. All worth it.
The fireworks were beautiful! My faves were the waterfall and sparkles and curly Q's. They played America from West Side Story among other things and finished with the 1812 Overture. AMURICAAA!! Of course, having a crowd of a thousand plus people seated means a crowd of a thousand plus people leaving too all at once. The police sirens and night lights made me feel at home in the big city. When I glanced around at the super-crowded Metro train on the way back, I saw a beautiful bunch, people of all sizes and colours and places they once called home. Even in the stifling air, we sang The Star-Spangled Banner as loudly as we could to cheer up the mood in the sweaty train during the long ride home.
Eye makeup! I wanted to utilize my massive collection of unused eye makeup, so in about 7 minutes, this is what I managed. No red eyeshadow in my box, because that would make my eyes look diseased, so I used lipstick. Today they're all stained still hahaha. Next year, it's all out American flags on my lids.
Two more things to address: 1) Yes this was taken yesterday (7/4/11) and 2) Yes I dyed my hair black. I have one more outfit pre-dye to show, then time to get caught up. I left my SLR at home to keep it safe and took photos with my old point and shoot instead. It feels so tiny in my hands! Lake of the Ozarks was awesome! Not as many photos to share but so many memories to keep. Jet skis, laser tagging, insane amounts of BBQ, chicken fights, and one helluva decked out condo. Watched The Matrix again and The Fifth Element (a wtf-yet-awesome movie).

How cheery is the red blazer? I adore your look! :)
Your comment was so sweet and original, thank you! :D
I really want to dress up for the 4th of july when I see your outfit! Blue and red are such great colors to work with! The Belgium flag is red, yellow and black... Not the best colors to combine, I think! :D

So festive! Looks like you had a great time! You look really good in red!!
I like the last two pictures. It looks like your head exploded into fireworks.
I understand it's "festive" makeup, but you should NEVER apply this makeup again on your eyes. I'll be a good friend to you and tell you it looks horrible. Truly horrible. I almost thought you let your niece do your makeup here.
love the colors angie! your outfit is really colorful! :) looks like you guys there had a great time.
@AubreyOhDang!
i know i'm no makeup expert and i appreciate your feedback, but you don't need to say it that way. i don't plan on walking around with crazy eye makeup on a daily basis - rest assured, "good friend"
Hey, Angie, I just looked at couple of your posts, and I realize that this is not just your fashion blog but also your personal diary of everyday excitement. It is a treasure full of precious memories to keep. Also, it is a record of your most stunning early twneties. Keep it up!. I will cheer for you always!

Cute outfit! I love the inspiration! Loving your blog too doll ;) xo
Oh I love your blazer! :)
The eye make up is absolutely gorgeous, too!
no i didn't have to say it that way, you're right. sometimes i'm a bit abrasive so let me apologize. but i was truly trying to be a good friend bc several ppl discussed w/me how the makeup looked "horrible" on you, so I stepped it up and told you the truth, according to some people, myself included. I hope you can take it into consideration, but by no way did i mean to hurt your feelings or tell you not to creatively express yourself.
blue sequin top, bright red jacket! LOVE the combo! and my 2 fave colors!! lol
