FOTD: Parisienne Chic + My Beauty Diary Facial Mask
Traditionally, I am not a "red lip" girl. Bright warm colours tend to make me look more sallow and yellow so I usually avoid reds and corals. However, recently with a slight tan at the beach and lighter hair colour, it turns out that the perfect red lip complements a Parisian outfit. I was so excited when I found all my bags full of makeup nice and unmelted from the drive from Oklahoma and the year-long storage. I was so sad without all my lippies and nail polishes and now I have finally been reunited with them :D
This is the brightest red lipstick I have - Lancome Rouge Baroque that I stole from my mom a long time ago. She has such amazing skin - no acne, never dry, never oily, goes with absolutely any shade. I unfortunately only look good in certain shades but I find that over the years I have become more daring, and for me, daring is good. The consistency of Lancome lipsticks is very nice - not too creamy, not too dry, perfect pigmentation.
I dug out a Clinique shadow that I had handy in my rediscovered box - Foxy. It's a nice taupe-silver good for slightly smokey eyes. Complete with eyeliner and a cute beret recycled from my last Parisian chic outfit, I was ready to head out the door for my outfit photos. I have been using Revlon Photo Ready for all my photoshoots lately and it holds up pretty well. However in person, it's not the prettiest -looking foundation and I glitter disgustingly. I will write a review of it soon.
A few hours before the shoot, I did my first facial mask ever. Sweet Nikki sent me a My Beauty Diary facial mask in her love package and I finally let my skin be pampered with some serious TLC. It is the Yogurt one and is slightly soapy to the touch but not in a gross way. I am such a mask nub that when I took it out and unfolded it I wasn't really sure what to do about the plastic thing haha. I just put the unplastic side on and later peeled off the protecting layer, but not before having some fun with photos xD I let the mask soak for about 10 minutes and then peeled it off and washed my face. Afterwards my skin felt a little hard and dried actually but to my delight, I found that my pimples on my forehead had dried yay! I still have to experiment with different masks I guess but this was a fun first time!
I found that the bathroom in my new place is a great makeup photo-taking place. The wall is a nice green colour and if I open the door but don't turn on the light and use flash, it creates a great flash lighting result. Yay! Additionally, there's lots of nice white counterspace for product reviews : ) Lighting is slightly yellow but liveable.

Flash:
I'm terribly awesome I wore this bright red lipstick on my teeth for half the day. There was a stain about 2 inches across. When my dad came home he asked if I had eaten something alive HAHA fail xD
Lancome Rouge Baroque swatches (btw uploaded these to Imageshack because Blogger is the WORST at washing out photos!)
Just for comparison, this is what Blogger did to these photos T__T (Update: my bf just told me that these look exactly the same to him. He uses Opera on Windows 7. Will you lovelies tell me if the colours look the same below compared to the above photos and include your browser and computer operating system in a comment? Is it a super vibrant red or just kind of? That would be so sweet of you! ♥ I am using Firefox/Safari on Mac OS)
Bathroom lighting: No matter what hosting site I use, it won't keep the brightness of the lipstick. This is extremely frustrating. Perhaps this is my internet browser's issue? The swatches above are super vibrant as they should be but these photos below are washed out. Any techies/photography aficionados - I would love your help!

Onto the facial mask!
I'm a Jabberwocky! Hahaha I borrowed one of my brother's hats and pranced around like an idiot. It was the hardest 10 minutes ever because I kept laughing every time I tried to say something serious while wearing this mask
So, maybe bright red lips aren't totally out of the question for me. I think that fact that I was wearing a beret made it all appropriate :D Today was a pretty uneventful day - I woke up abysmally late and spent most of my evening moving boxes from the apartment. I did manage to cut up my DIY shorts pretty well and tomorrow I will throw some bleach on it before styling my outfit yay! I can't believe I only have 6 days left in Cali! When I head back to school, my friend and I vowed to dress to strut style because life is too short to melt into the background. This is going to be crazy, but I'm going to finally let my inner fashion geek out to play on campus *fingers crossed* I also wonder, where the heck am I going to take outfit photos outside without gathering a crowd of onlookers? I always get embarrassed when my "irl" friends point out that they've been following my blog :3 "So this is how you spend your time..." Wahhh! Give me courage lovelies to come out of my fashion closet this fall xD

Waaw, your lips have a fabulous colour!
Lots of Love <33
You have nice lips! I agree with the picture/lighting/browser problem though. It's not as bright as it's supposed to be. But nevertheless, You still look great!
xx, Channie
that red lipstick suits you well! unfortunately it doesn't suit me!!
Vicky
(new post: You're lazy stay in bed & follow me)
Ooooo that look suits you so well!! Your lips look lovely with that colour!! xx
HEy ,, thx for pointing this out
i use safari browser also on macbook ,,
and the colors wash out ,,
but i learned a trick by trying out different things ,,
1st ,, i open the pics with iphoto
then i press on edit ,,
Effects ,,, i make the fade color 1 ,, boost color 1 ,,
Adjust ,, Contras ,, make it 50 ,,
then pics colors stay true to color when uploaded ,,
also i noticed when i use photoshop ,,
after this to add the copy right or signature ,,
colors also stay vibrant =)
hope this helps ..
and if you learned another way please share ,, hugs xx
Hmmmmm.. red does look good on you and it shows off the nice shape of your lips. Okay, me likey you in red lippie :D
Me on the other hand would scare the living daylights out of anyone who manages to catch a glimpse of me with red lippie. My lips are small so darker shades makes them look smaller and meaner.
*sigh*
Blogger photos of the lipstick are DEF more washed out than the other ones. World a diff! I was wondering why my photos always lose their spark after I upload them. Btw, very pretty color that you took from your mum. And that photo of you in the mask gave me a good chuckle : )
wow stunning, gorgeous lips. and new i'm the new followers. :)
I love the shade of the lipgloss. I want want :). I have pretty natural red lips irl, but for some reason the color never shows up in pictures. Perhaps I need a little trick heh.
Red lips look great for this outfit, but I cannot imagine you using red for other outfits. But you look really sweet and gorgeous :)
i love the detailed pic of your eye and the red lip stick looks incredible on you! that's so cool that you went to cali! how was the weather there? foggy? cold? lol anyways, you have the most amazing style ever, and my advice is to just be confident in yourself. most likely, other people is thinking about showing their inner style too, but are too afraid too. you can be the one that stands out in a good way and inspire other people to do the same. like you said, life is too short to blend in. and the good thing is, your friend will be there with you so at least you won't have to do it alone! :) stay true to yourself no matter what, and good things will come your way. hope you have a beautiful and fab first day of school!
The lip color and contacts look really cool. I also really like our hat =)
lol i tried a mask like that yesterday too! when i laughed it started to peel off my face LOL xD and the red lip suits you alot !
So beautiful!! :-)) I think red lipstick suits you very well! I like your eyemake, too!
Hey Angie! I think you look fab in red lipstick. Personally I would die if I didn't have my red lipstick- I find that other colors tend to wash me out. Plus, there's just something so sexy and classy about red lips! I agree, the first pics are shinier and a bit more vibrant. Do you have an auto adjust feature when editing? sometimes that helps :D
You look great in red lipstick :) I think it goes really well with your complexion lol. Urgh I want some MBD masks, but I'm to cheapo to buy them! lol
You have really nice lips! I can't wear bright lipstick because it'll just draw more attention to my dry flakey lips argh.
Omg I love the Jabberwockiez! They set the bar so high and they're still probably my favorite crew of all the ABDC winners. Okay now you know I watch way too much TV :P
People always are always picky about red lipstick. I say people should try it more! You look so amazing with it on. I love the eyes and lips; how cute! I also laughed about what your dad said ;o;
Good day!
I have never tried red lipstick before but it looks good on you. I don't think it'll look good on me though. Have a good weekend!
I use beauty diary masks too, I like them! And never thought about blogger changing my photo colors, I guess I don't do enough make up post to see the color diff? lol sometimes people look over when I am taking pics outside, I just go meh... its not like I'll ever see them again haha
lighting can be so tough...i thought maybe it's because i had a shitty digicam. i do love the red lipstick on you. it's looks very pretty and vibrant.
haha that picture of you and mask & cap...that definitely made me chuckle!
You look SO good in red lipstick!!! I agree, the lighting for the lipstick is washed out. I imagine it to be super vibrant (and it is) but I believe the camera may be intimidated LOL :) Hahaha the mask is so funny :p
awww you look fab in red lipstick!
You're really pretty and I want to try my beauty diary masks as well~
